SILK HILL is a cultural project proposed to redefine the identity of Korea’s silk industry, which has thrived for over a century, and to reaffirm Jinju as one of the world’s five most renowned silk-producing regions.Amid the decline of the local silk industry caused by diversification in textiles and rising labor costs, the project seeks to revitalize Jinju’s silk heritage while establishing a symbolic cultural landmark that represents Korean silk on a global stage.

The SILK HILL Museum is conceived not merely as an exhibition facility, but as an open cultural complex serving tourists, local residents, and workers from the nearby silk industrial district. The outdoor plaza, rooftop garden, and interior exhibition spaces are designed with flexibility to accommodate programs of varying scales and formats.Visitors can walk, rest, view exhibitions, attend performances, or participate in markets and cultural events, experiencing the museum as part of everyday life rather than a singular destination.

A defining feature of the project is its continuous circulation. Spatial flow connects the rooftop to the plaza, and further to exhibition and educational spaces, forming a seamless journey throughout the museum. This fluid movement integrates exhibitions, education, and cultural programming into a cohesive experience where recreation, communication, and relaxation coexist.

SILK HILL is also designed with a strong commitment to sustainability. Solar, geothermal, and fuel cell systems reduce energy consumption, while green roofs and landscaped courtyards create ecological outdoor environments. The project positions itself not only as an architectural facility, but as a model of sustainable cultural infrastructure in harmony with its natural surroundings.
